A NOTE ABOUT GLENSOUND ISDN MIXERS
Glensound equipment has been in extensive use throughout in the UK broadcast market for many years. Although not occupying a high profile position, they have been supplying specialist and customised equipment to the major UK broadcasters such as the BBC over that period. That close association has meant that Glensound have a good appreciation of the needs of the broadcast market. IF THE EQUIPMENT OFFERED BY A HIRE COMPANY TO YOU DOES NOT HAVE GLENSOUND ENGRAVED ON THE TOP AND REAR PANELS - IT'S NOT A GLENSOUND!
Glensound GSGC5.
The GSGC5 audio section consists of a 3 mic + 1 line input mixer, with two headphone monitor outputs, each of which can set its own mix of desk output and cue return. This section can be used with conventional landlines. On the ISDN section, calls may be made utilising internal codecs via an approved integral terminal adapter. All audio inputs and outputs are via front panel mounted XLRs, with headphone jacks. ISDN connection, X.21 interface on 'D' connector, external DC input and power switching are on the rear.
A sloping top panel contains sensibly arranged user controls separated into two logical sections, audio control and call set-up/configure control. Basic operating instructions in English are also clearly printed on the control panel. Audio controls include 4 channel rotary pots, two sets of headphone controls and a basic LED column PPM. Internally, a compressor limiter is inserted after the PPM. The keyboard allows dialling and a number of configuration options, including selection of incoming/outgoing B channel, memory dialling, sub-address mode and multiple subscriber numbering mode.
Units can operate on internal alkaline batteries (3 × D size) for over 8 hours or from an external 6-9VDC source with 500mA capacity. They are supplied in a polypropylene transit case.
Another particularly useful feature of the GSGC5 is that it will automatically sense which type of codec (MPEG, apt-X or G.722) is at the other end of the line, adjust itself to match the equipment, and proceed accordingly. Although it operates using one 'B' channel only, the unit can be configured to answer any 'B' channel of an ISDN2 installation.

Breaking out...
Strategies for Conference & Convention planners
Much of the content of this portal was originally directly generated in response and as a result of situations encountered, running City, Financial and Marketing companies, acting for private equity clients also responses to questions and answers given by me, Julian Bray during professional assignments as a corporate mentor, conference moderator, symposia chair, seminar author and presenter, creator of corporate presentations and as an after-dinner speaker.
Many events are not fully leveraged. Where is the tangible or intangible return on investment? Objectives are not clearly set out or the basic purpose of the activity is not fully understood or communicated.
If it is an exhibition with the aim of driving potential customers onto the stand; will the reception, enquiry handling and post event follow up be appropriate? We've known stand enquiry forms (when they are filled in) to be dumped in a box on the stand and only actioned days or weeks after the event.
The smart money is on the organisation that aims to get the printed response in the post, or e-mailed, the same day and the programme of follow up telephone calls and visits logged onto systems within 24 hours. It might be that the participation is simply to renew industry contacts, additional networking and to re-present or re-position the product or offer the organisation currently has.
It could be the result of a buy-out or takeover/ acquisition activity. Seminar Programme National Venue Show All these are legitimate reasons for holding or attending events and conferences. So bearing all this in mind, enter the website and if we cannot answer your questions then, drop us a line or telephone and we'll do our best to provide the answer.
This is a fast moving industry and as such the information we present today could well have changed by tomorrow. So come back on a regular basis as we try to anticipate the changes, introduce new features. Make this your homepage and circulate the details to your colleagues.
From time to time, I'm lucky enough to present lectures on the new generation of luxury cruise ships plying the Med and the Atlantic and as for those relaxing on the cruise, some of the core scripts used during these on-board PowerPoint supported presentations are, for a limited period during and after the cruise duration, to be found on the pages entitled 'on-board destination lectures', located near the end of the index.
This way my current 'at sea' audience can pick up on the detail of the lecture or Port of Call, they are about to experience or have just experienced, probably by accessing this website using the cruise ships own sophisticated internet café to download the pages.
Treat this as an added bonus to the variety of topics offered on here.

GENERAL WEALTH WARNING!
Advice and suggestions on this and other websites will ONLY be of value if you or your business has during this DEEP RECESSION established and confirmed in writing clear lines of credit, or if you have cash or banking facilities in place with an available cash reserve to fully cover any immediate call on your account.
Be strongly advised that any bank overdraft (however the lender likes to dress it up) and whatever size non-refundable 'arrangement' or 'facility' advance fee paid by you or your business to your bank, does not guarantee your facility and an overdraft is always repayable on demand. That is immediately!
So if your future business depends on any form of borrowed money, consider factoring or other forms of defined cashflow finance.
Failing which, seriously work within your available cash resources perhaps by trimming your business making it leaner and fitter.
Consider ruthlessly culling credit accounts and customers who do not meet your strict credit terms.
Checklist
• Show that you have a committed, united and disciplined management or partnership
• Show you are in control of costs
• Demonstrate that you have a strategy for dealing with the recession
• Ensure that financial management is strong
• Reduce your lock-up - target 100 days for the average firm
• Communicate early, regularly and often - no surprises
• Be up-front and honest, especially with unwelcome news
• Provide financial information on time
• Do everything possible to make cash and profit projections accurate
• Develop relationships where possible above and beyond your relationship manager (e.g. credit, senior executives)
• Make your relationship manager's job as easy as possible - he/she is working harder than ever for less reward. If you can do these things you can get the bank on your side and produce the commodity which can't be bought - trust.
